Peregrination
The title track for the album. This track showcases ambience and sounds I never had access to before, and I'm very excited about where these new tools will lead in future songs. -
Groovymess
This track was created with the original intention of having someone else rap over it, hence the heavy focus on drums and the funkier style. If it works out, I'll post the final track. On its own, it's still pretty neat, though, so here it is. -
Run
The second of three tracks I've completed this week. At this point, it looks like I'm finally able to get along nicely without any help from any loops whatsoever, a fact I'm very proud of. This song is definitely darker and more intense than much of what I've done, and features some really amazing sounds and synths thanks to Logic. This feels like a serious step up from things like "Angels", so I think that although Reason is capable of creating some very interesting things, I'll be doing my main work within Logic from now on. Please let me know what you think, and if you agree with the me on the step up in sound quality. -
Angels (Working title)
Whereas "Dirty Drums" and "Sampler Platter" were more a matter of me playing around and having fun with the program, "Angels" is my first proper attempt at creating a song from scratch within Reason.
I exported to Logic to get better Vox synths to work with, as well as to string together the two separate segments created within Reason. I like the result a lot, and it's pretty exciting to look forward to more evolution like this. Best listened to on headphones or a good stereo set-up.
The next album is tentatively titled "One Last Reason", and should be a return to self-contained songs. -
Sampler Platter (demo)
My second venture into messing with Reason. This is a track entirely composed of samples. I had a really fun time loading shit into two seperate sets of the drum machine for their own individual beats, and then seeing how I could gradually throw the two together. I've never done something like this before, and I think that the end result is pretty weird and cool. Please comment and let me know what you think! -
Dirty Drums (demo)
My first track created using Reason. I was figuring out how to use the automation for effects on multiple instruments and messing with the matrix editor. It's brand new ground for me, so we'll see where this leads. Not fantastic, but fun, new, and interesting. -
The Cowboy
Not where I originally intended the album to go, but screw all of that. It works, it's good, and it still fits with the album. This is track fourteen off of V. Enjoy. -
Throttling (TLH Version)
The biggest fan favorite off of "Evolution," so much so that I removed it and tweaked it for "V." The track remains essentially the same, just sped up. That tiny touch makes all the difference in the world. The tricky part was figuring out how to speed it up enough so that it fits the rest of the album, but not too much so that it sounds bad. After all, the song was engineered for only 120 BPM. -
The Escape
Track five off of "V." Good, solid times, and proof to myself that "Dance Like Hell" wasn't a fluke: I'm actually capable of producing consistently good material. Why is it called this? When I imagine any kind of visual to this, like a music video, I can't help but imagine a bank robbery and the ensuing car chase. -
Bitslasher (TLH Version)
TLH stands for Trance Like Hell, which was the old name for "V" if some of you remember. This is the faster version with an ending tweaked to flow directly into "Dance Like Hell." Still one of the best examples of my old style mixed with new style. -
Dance Like Hell
Track three off of "V." The first track I actually did for the album, and a foreshadowing of songs to come. A promising start, and what made a lot of people really want more. -
Deliverance
Track nine off of "V." Happy hardcore-ish, complexly layered, and really damned fun. ^_^ It was pretty crazy crafting all of the rhythms to work with each other, but I'm very happy with the result.
